Hugh Grant has announced he plans to head out 'on the stump' with Dominic Grieve and will be supporting a 'dolly mixture' of candidates in a tactical voting drive.

The Four Weddings star spread the news in a tweet saying the idea was "v unlike me" but that he wanted to be able to "rabbit on" about tactical voting.

He plans to promote both Labour and Liberal Democrat candidates who support a second referendum.

Hugh Grant has already tried to galvanise the electorate by exhorting them to register to vote "or I will make another enchanting romantic comedy", he quipped.

The actor spread the news in a tweet saying: "V unlike me but going out on stump to try and support some pro 2ndRef people with great chances of winning Tory-held seats. Never been supporter of any one party. This will be Dolly Mixture of Lab and LD and the brave @DominicGrieve1

Former Tory Dominic Grieve, who is standing as pro-second referendum independent in Beaconsfield, responded by tweeting: "I am pleased and privileged to have your support and look forward to seeing you."
