The counterargument was made by prominent anti-Brexit campaigner Dr Mike Galsworthy.

He was interviewed by the BBC’s Chi Chi Izundu during the People’s Vote march in London about the potential for having a final say on Brexit.

Izundu said: ‘Prime minister Theresa May has said there will is no possibility of a People’s Vote…’

In just 40 seconds Galsworthy, a campaigner from the Scientists4EU and NHS against Brexit movement, perfectly refuted why the prime minister was wrong.

‘And ‘there will be no snap election’. Yeah, so what? Why should she determine what we do now?

‘If it’s a democracy then it should be the people that have the say over this. We should remain control over what’s going on – whether you voted Remain or you voted Leave.

‘When a contract comes back, you do have a right to read the small print, and say actually ‘no, no, no, this isn’t what we signed up for’.

‘It is a fundamental right, when you go shopping, or get engaged to get married… if the person you just got engaged to turns out to be a psycho you are not beholden to get married to them.

‘It’s just about reasonableness. If there is going to be a plan for leaving, let’s see it, let’s sign off on it, or let’s ditch it.’
