A possible return to politics for the former prime minister David Cameron has been branded ‘bizarre’ and ‘unreal’ by politicians.
The Sun has revealed that the ex-Conservative leader Cameron is looking to return to frontline politics – and he fancies the role as of foreign secretary.
The report said that Mr Cameron was ‘bored shitless’ and would like to return to the Cabinet next year.
A source told the newspaper: ‘David is dedicated to public service, and has often said he wouldn’t rule out a public role one day, domestically or internationally… but he is only 52, and still a young man.’

Labour MPs were quick to react to the news – calling the idea ‘bizarre’ and ‘unreal’.
Angela Rayner, the shadow education secretary, tweeted: ‘Just when you thought politics couldn’t get anymore bizarre. No David please stay in retirement you caused enough damage last time.’
Andrew Gwynne, the shadow communities and local government secretary, said: ‘God. No. Didn’t he do enough damage first time round?? Please spare us all.’
Redcar MP Anna Turley said: ‘The sense of entitlement is unreal. Please go away and think about what you’ve done.’

Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee Yvette Cooper tweeted: ‘What, because it worked out so well last time? Man, you ripped up our closest international partnership. By accident. That makes you even worse than Boris Johnson.’
