The Liberal Democrats are now ahead of Labour and the Greens have overtaken the Conservatives in the latest EU elections polling.

With Labour at 15% and the Lib Dems at 16%, Vince Cable’s party is now the second preferred choice.

The Brexit Party far in the lead on 35%, as Brexiteers flock around Farage.

The Conservatives are now trailing in fifth place, gathering only 9% of the intended votes, and have been leapfrogged by the Greens who are on 10%.

The polling, undertaken by YouGov for The Times, shows that people who previously voted Labour or Tory in the 2017 general election will, overwhelmingly, abandon those parties in the EU elections.

Sixty-two per cent of 2017 Tories will vote for The Brexit Party, while Labour will only claw back 35 per cent of its 2017 voters.

With Labour’s lukewarm position on Brexit and the Conservatives almost totally failing to attract the votes of their own hardline Brexiteers, the poll shows support for the two main parties crumble further as voters increasingly choose along direct Remain or Leave lines.
