Twitter has speculated that Brexiteer Michael Gove could still be plotting… after seeing his choice of breakfast.
The environment secretary confirmed he would remain in Theresa May’s cabinet to see Brexit through, but rejected an offer from the prime minister to takeover from Dominic Raab as the Brexit secretary.
A job his friends are said to believe he considers a ‘poisoned chalice’.
However as Michael Gove confirmed that he would be standing by Theresa May he was spotted carrying a bag from Patisserie Valerie.
It was just a day ago that it had been announced that the business owner’s chief executive Paul May had resigned.
The irony wasn’t missed by Twitter users who tweeted the photograph and pointed to the bag he was carrying.
While Michael Gove appears to have stayed loyal to the prime minister so far, he has a track record of discrediting Tory leaders and leadership candidates.
It is reported that he and David Cameron are no longer on talking terms after he joined the Leave team during the EU referendum.
Gove also supported Boris Johnson in his leadership bid – until he decided to launch his own bid days later.
Earlier in the day he said: ‘I am looking forward to continuing to work with all colleagues in government and in parliament to get the best future for Britain.’
