The boss of Ryanair has used a television interview to savage the Tory ‘half-wits’ behind Brexit like David Davis and Liam Fox.

Michael O’Leary was speaking on CNBC in Ireland when he said that the UK is getting closer to a period where flights could be grounded, but he believed that could be eliminated when the UK eventually enters a Brexit transition period, but said this was simply the government ‘kicking the can down the road.’

He explained: ‘The challenge once you’re in transition is what the hell happens at the end of the transition… it just kicks the can down the road for 21 months to September 2020. Then we start all over again, the same mess we’ve had for the last two years, and Mrs May will kick the can down the road… and we’ll be back exactly where we are today.’

He compared the political chaos unfolding to being like ‘groundhog day’.

It’s a bit like groundhog day – the UK politicians telling us again and again they have a plan or that Brexit will be good for the UK economy when the dogs on the street know that Brexit is a disaster, and a disaster for the UK economy.’

He also delivered a savage attack on the likes of David Davis and Liam Fox for wanting to give up the EU for trade agreements with much ‘smaller economies in the world.

‘The UK has one of the strongest economies in Europe simply because it has membership of one of the largest free-trade agreements in the world, and to leave the free-trade area simply so a couple of half-wits in the Conservative party can do to great deals with other smaller economies in the world is insane.’
