Brexit headbanger Nigel Farage dodged some potentially difficult question over the investigation into Russian links to Brexit when he hung up on a journalist who hijacked his radio show.

The Guardian’s Carole Cadwalladr has printed several stories investigating alleged links between the Brexit vote, Cambridge Analytica and Russia.

So when LBC devoted 25 minutes to an unchallenged discussion about Brexit between Nigel Farage, Leave.EU financier Arron Banks, and communications chief Andy Wigmore Cadwalladr was keen to challenge the trio.

But despite an outcry on social media for her to participate in the conversation she did not receive an invitation to go on-air. When Cadwalladr attempted call the phone-in she claims producers refused to put her on air.

But not deterred Cadwalladr managed to find a way on to the programme. She got an associate to call on her behalf and then grabbed the phone saying: ‘Can I just interrupt Nigel…? It’s Carole Cadwalladr from the Guardian.’

A panicking Farage immediately cut the journalist off citing past claims made about him and Julian Assange.

‘Oh goodbye. Listen I’m not interested in talking to Carole Cadwalladr of the Guardian, who had a whole series of extordinary claims about me and, of course, Julian Assange when I was purely doing it for LBC’.

Anti-Brexit campaigners accused Farage of being cowardice for refusing to debate the matter with the journalist at the heart of the investigations.

Cadwalladr previously tweeted: ‘He’s a public figure in receipt of public funds and he’s evading basic questions about his own involvement in all this. Who is going to try and hold him to account?’
