Following an Australian tour where ticket sales were less than expected, Nigel Farage has been trying to make a name for himself again in the UK.

But the latest crowd to greet him while on an open top bus in Lancashire might be his smallest yet.

As he played up to the news cameras, Channel 4 News offered a different perspective, panning around to reveal just two shoppers and their dogs watching.

In interviews Farage claimed that he had come ‘out of retirement’ to save Brexit by attending the Leave Means Leave rallies.

He said: ‘We haven’t taken back control of our borders yet. All the things we voted for haven’t yet been delivered. So that’s why I’m sort of… back out of retirement.’

‘Just because I want to get it over the line. And succeed.’

He added: ‘We’d be a better country for it.’

In September poor ticket sales forced the former UKIP leader to move Australian gig to a smaller venue, despite reportedly offering a 40% discount on tickets.

The tour’s first night, in Perth, saw just 350 people turn out – although there was a noisy presence outside, as protestors gathered.

Last year Nigel Farage’s one-man show in Clacton was outsold by an Elvis tribute act. As of the day before the gig, he’d sold just 179 of the 802 available tickets.
