A Brexiteer has suggested to the prime minister that she closes down parliament until March 29th passes.
Sir Desmond Swayne stood up in the House of Commons during the debate on Brexit to ask Theresa May if she agreed.
He said: ‘To guarantee Brexit, the prime minister should prorogue Parliament until April — tempting, isn’t it?’
Prorogation is the name given to the time between the end of a session that parliament sits and the state opening that begins the next session.
The suggestion appears to take the mantra of ‘taking back control’ to new lengths.

Theresa May responded to the Brexiteer saying: ‘My right honourable friend is trying to tempt me down a road that I do not think I should go down.
‘Were parliament to prorogue until April, I would be denied the opportunity to see my right honourable friend and answer his questions on a regular basis, and that would be very sad.’

The New Forest West MP said he was considering voting for the deal to frustrate Remainers, even though he disliked the deal and believed the UK could be stuck in a ‘toxic limbo’.
He said: ‘This deal is better than staying in they EU – we will be out of the Common Fisheries Policy, out of the Common Agricultural Policy, out of the relentless momentum for political integration.
‘I’m very much aware that the events and the votes of last week present a present danger to Brexit.
‘I will have to consider very carefully over the next 24 hours whether I want to be in a division lobby where I will share a place with those who are there because their strategy is actually to prevent Brexit at all.’
