Sir Rod Stewart believes that the public were ‘fooled’ into voting to leave the European Union, and has added his support to the long list of celebrities backing a People’s Vote.
He said that people ‘had been lied to’ over the promises made during the referendum campaign, and said that they now had ‘too many doubts’ over Britain’s future outside the EU.
‘If I had my way I would definitely have a second referendum,’ he told the Independent. ‘I think the people have been fooled, I think they’ve been lied to.’

‘I think whether we drop out of the customs union or whatever I think it all needs to be rescheduled and we should have a new referendum because people are fed up with it. I think there are too many doubts now in everybody’s minds.
He added: ‘I agree with the Mayor of London, there should be a second referendum.’
In a reference to his homes overseas the 73-year-old singer joked: ‘I might be putting my foot in it there but I do live here quite a bit.’
Next month hundreds of thousands of protesters are expected to line the streets of London to call for a final say over Brexit.
