Here’s who voted against protecting key child refugee rights after Brexit

MPs have rejected Labour’s call to put key rights for child refugees back into Boris Johnson’s Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB) by a majority of 96.

The pledge, to guarantee the right of unaccompanied child refugees to be reunited with family living in the UK, was removed from the WAB after the Conservatives’ overwhelming general election victory.

Known as the Dubs Amendment, it was initially included in Theresa May’s WAB after Labour’s Lord Dubs campaigned on the issue.

Speaking in its favour in the House of Commons, Labour’s Thangam Debbonaire said that removing the pledge was an “astonishing breach of faith with some of the most vulnerable children in the world”.

She added: “It is deeply wrong for the government to seek to remove this provision … just because they can.”

But the amendment, which was tabled by Jeremy Corbyn, was rejected today by 348 MPs.

Another 48 MPs had no vote recorded for the issue.
