Changemaker Hunt failed to take his own medicine

In lamenting NHS failures, the former Tory leadership hopeful seems to have forgotten who was in charge for six years

Jeremy Hunt, one of the early fallers in the race for No 10, appeared to be going through his own epiphany when I caught up with him in London at The Conduit – a private community of ‘changemakers’ – where he was promoting his catchily titled book, ZERO: Eliminating preventable harm and tragedy in a post-pandemic NHS.

“We used immigration as a kind of ‘get out of jail’ card for not training enough doctors for the NHS for very many years”, the former health secretary told Mandrake.

Least said, soonest mended that Hunt was the longest-serving health secretary in history and never got around to doing anything meaningful about it.
